MY EXPERIENCE 

One of my main tasks during the internship was preparing and delivering lesson plans. Each plan was carefully designed to align with the curriculum while addressing the students' specific needs. I taught physics to 8th-grade students, focusing on topics like contact forces, speed, and velocity. To make these concepts easier to understand, I used simple demonstrations and examples from daily life. For instance, while teaching contact forces, I used classroom objects to show how forces work when objects come into physical contact.

I also used teaching aids like charts and models to make lessons engaging. For example, when introducing the concept of speed, I encouraged students to measure distances and time, making learning practical and enjoyable. Feedback from students and my mentor teacher helped me improve my approach, ensuring lessons were more effective and interactive.

Managing the classroom was another important learning experience. I made an effort to create a positive and inclusive environment where all students felt encouraged to participate. Some students required extra attention due to learning difficulties, so I adopted strategies like group work and peer learning to address their needs.

Maintaining discipline was challenging at times, but I relied on positive reinforcement, such as appreciating students for their good behavior and active participation. Observing experienced teachers also gave me useful tips on handling distractions and maintaining focus in the classroom, which I applied successfully in my own classes.

Assessment was an essential part of my teaching process. I conducted tests, quizzes, and activities to evaluate students' understanding of the lessons. I also carried out a case study and a Continuous Performance Test (CPT) to identify specific issues faced by students, such as difficulties in focusing. These assessments helped me adjust my teaching methods to better suit the students' needs.

Apart from formal tests, I used informal methods like question-and-answer sessions and group discussions. These allowed students to express their doubts freely, making the learning process more interactive and student-centered.

One of the highlights of my internship was organizing hands-on activities to make learning more practical. For instance, while teaching about natural magnets, I conducted an activity where students tested the magnetic properties of different materials. Such experiments encouraged curiosity and helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-life applications.

Similarly, I used a flashlight experiment to explain luminous intensity, allowing students to observe how light changes with distance. These activities not only made the lessons enjoyable but also deepened their understanding of scientific concepts.

The internship also gave me the opportunity to participate in school events, such as the Children’s Day celebration. This experience allowed me to interact with students outside the classroom, understand their interests, and build stronger relationships with them.

Taking part in extracurricular activities showed me the importance of balancing academics with creative and social development. I observed how these events brought out the students’ talents and teamwork skills, which was an inspiring experience.The internship was a period of continuous learning and growth. Feedback from my mentor teacher helped me refine my teaching methods and classroom management techniques. For example, I learned to simplify explanations and incorporate visual aids to make lessons more engaging.

Reflecting on my daily experiences was also an important part of my professional development. After each class, I took time to think about what worked well and what could be improved. This habit of reflection helped me understand the students better and encouraged me to explore new teaching strategies.The internship came with its share of challenges. Some students found it difficult to understand certain concepts, requiring me to come up with creative ways to explain the topics. Engaging students who lacked interest in learning was another hurdle, but I overcame it by including interactive activities and relatable examples in my lessons.

These challenges taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and perseverance. They also showed me the value of building a strong connection with students to better understand their needs and motivations.

My internship experience was both rewarding and eye-opening. It gave me practical exposure to the challenges and responsibilities of teaching, while also allowing me to apply the knowledge and skills I had learned during my B.Ed. course. Each aspect of the internship, from lesson planning and teaching to participating in school events, contributed to my growth as a teacher.

The experience strengthened my belief in the importance of using innovative methods to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. It also emphasized the role of a teacher in shaping not just academic success, but also the overall development of students. I am confident that the lessons I learned during this internship will help me become a more effective and compassionate educator in the future.
